Guardianship

Guardianship gives legal right to a person to be responsible for the food, housing, healthcare, and other necessities of a person deemed incapable of providing these necessities for him or herself. A peson who has the legal authority and the corresponding duty to care for the personal and property interests of another person is a legal guardian. Usually, a person has the status of guardian because he or she is ward incapable of caring for his or her own interests due to incapacity or disability.
